Massachusetts motorcycle accident injures 2

A motorcycle can be used for work as well as for pleasure. Unfortunately, the risk of a motorcycle accident is something riders have to deal with on a daily basis whether they ride for the joy or out of a sense of responsibility. Recently, a Massachusetts motorcycle accident involving two police officers on duty has gained the attention of many residents.

The Boston University Police Officers were outside of the university when a man making a U-turn reportedly crashed into both riders. Witnesses said at first they thought it was a close call, but then realized the man hit the first officer and then continued on hitting the second. Reports state that the riders were riding single file at the time of impact.

Both officers were transported to nearby hospitals where they received treatment. The accident is still under investigation. Charges could be placed following a full investigation. While a case such as this could potentially be covered under workers' compensation, there may be many factors involved to determine if it will be. If expenses are not covered, the officers may choose to take civil action in a third-party lawsuit against the driver who struck them on their own.

Any Massachusetts rider who feels they have been the victim in a motorcycle accident could benefit from having an understanding of the applicable state laws pertaining to their specific situation. Injuries can be severe and require a long recovery time. When that is the case, a victim can become financially overwhelmed. By having the proper knowledge and knowing the best course of action to take, a person can be more confident a monetary settlement can be reached to help with any accident related expenses.
