Two injured in recent Massachusetts motorcycle accident

Motorcyclists face dangers that other motorists do not need to worry about. The small size of the motorcycle means that accidents can be both more common and more severe. Any time a motorcyclist gets on the road with cars and trucks, the chances of injury from a motorcycle accident become much greater. It is, however, this sense of freedom with a hint of danger that attracts so many to scenic Massachusetts roadways.

Two people in the Massachusetts town of Ludlow were injured recently following a collision with a car. Both the motorcycle operator and passenger were transported to Baystate Medical Center, though neither was thought to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

The male driver is believed to have suffered a leg fracture, while his female passenger endured unspecified non-life threatening injuries. The cause of the accident was unknown in initial police reports. Police are continuing their investigation to determine the cause of the accident. The driver of the car appears to have escaped the collision with no injuries.

The investigation may establish whether any criminal charges will be filed concerning this motorcycle accident. If the motorcyclist decides to file a personal injury claim for the injuries he sustained, he will have to prove negligence on behalf of the other driver. The passenger on the bike, however, could establish liability by proving that the car driver or the biker, or both, were negligent in a manner that caused their injuries. Massachusetts law provides, upon appropriate proof, for the right of those harmed on our roadways to seek monetary damages for injuries suffered due to the negligence of another driver.
